An Act Respecting the Executive Council Act and the Legislative Assembly Act
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
Executive Council Act
1( 1) Section 6 of the Executive Council Act, chapter 152 of the Revised Statutes, 2011, is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “$52,614 in monthly instalments” and substituting “$62,022”;
(b) by repealing subsection (1.1);
(c) in subsection (2) by striking out “$79,000 in monthly instalments” and substituting “$93,126”;
(d) by repealing subsection (2.1);
(e) in subsection (3)
( i) by striking out “subsection (1), (1.1), (2) or (2.1)” and substituting “subsection (1) or (2)”;
( ii) by striking out “$39,500 in monthly instalments” and substituting “$46,563”;
(f) by repealing subsection (3.1).
1( 2) Subsection 7(6) of the Act is repealed.
1( 3) Section 7 of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
Adjustment of salaries
7( 1) In this section, “Part 1 of the Public Service” means those portions of the public service of the Province specified in Part 1 of the First Schedule of the Public Service Labour Relations Act.
7( 2) Despite section 6, the annual salary payable to Ministers appointed under section 2, the Premier and other members of the Executive Council shall be adjusted by the percentage change, if any, provided for in the Management and Non-union Pay Plan of Part 1 of the Public Service.
Legislative Assembly Act
2( 1) Subsection 20(1) of the Legislative Assembly Act, chapter 116 of the Revised Statutes, 2014, is amended
(a) by striking out “to (6)”;
(b) by striking out “for the period commencing on January 1, 2016, and ending on March 31, 2022,”.
2( 2) Section 28 of the Act is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:
28( 1) In this section, “Part 1 of the Public Service” means those portions of the public service of the Province specified in Part 1 of the First Schedule of the Public Service Labour Relations Act.
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “$85,000” and substituting “$93,126”;
(c) by repealing subsection (2.1);
(d) by repealing subsection (3) and substituting the following:
28( 3) The annual indemnity payable to a member of the Legislative Assembly shall be adjusted by the percentage change, if any, provided for in the Management and Non-union Pay Plan of Part 1 of the Public Service.
(e) by repealing subsection (4);
(f) by repealing subsection (5);
(g) by repealing subsection (6);
(h) by repealing subsection (6.1);
(i) in subsection (12) by striking out “for the period commencing on January 1, 2016, and ending on March 31, 2022,”;
(j) in subsection (16)
( i) by striking out “for the period commencing on January 1, 2016, and ending on March 31, 2022,”;
( ii) by striking out “25%” and substituting “50%”.
2( 3) Paragraph 34(5)(d) of the Act is amended by adding after subparagraph (ii) the following:
( ii.1) parental leave,
2( 4) Section 38 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by repealing the definition “session”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “for each session or portion of a session” and “six sessions” and substituting “for each year or portion of a year” and “six years”, respectively;
(c) in subsection (5) by striking out “for each session or portion of a session” and “six sessions” and substituting “for each year or portion of a year” and “six years”, respectively.

3 Paragraphs 1(1)(a) and (c), subparagraph 1(1)(e)(ii), subsection 1(3), paragraphs 2(1)(a) and (2)(a), (b), (d), (e), (f) and (g) and subparagraph 2(2)(j)(ii) come into force on November 1, 2024.
